A man who was charged after police released security footage of a woman being grabbed and shoved into a car on a Red Hill street has pleaded guilty to assault and unlawful confinement.

Adam Peter Coogan, 30, was arrested days after ACT Policing asked for the public's help to track down an offender and victim after they published online CCTV footage of the attempted abduction on Esperance Street about 6.45 on October 10.
The footage showed Coogan drive up beside two women on the street before he got out of the car, took hold of one of the women and forced her into the back seat of the car as she struggled.
He eventually closed the door and tried to hold it shut several times as the woman tried to get out.
She escaped briefly and tried to flee before Coogan dragged her back inside and shut the door again, the footage showed.
A tip-off from a member of the public led officers to carry out a welfare check on the victim several days after the public call for witnesses to come forward, police said in a statement released in October.
Coogan was later arrested in Theodore.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful confinement, assault and using a carriage service to menace and harass during a brief appearance in the family violence list of the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Coogan, who has been behind bars since his arrest, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
Defence lawyer Jacob Robertson indicated there could be some changes to the statement of facts from the incident. He requested Coogan undergo an assessment for drug and alcohol programs.
The matter will appear in the higher court for sentence on February 2.
