A Canberra man charged in relation to a terrifying home invasion at Bywong has been refused bail at Queanbeyan Local Court this morning.

It was Giralang man Corey Adam Brown's second attempt at bail following a previous bail hearing in September. Police allege he's one of two offenders who terrorised an elderly couple at their rural property north-east of Canberra in September, before making off with firearms and ammunition.
His lawyer Peter Bevan said that Brown's co-accused Joe Daniel Rose was still at large when the last bail hearing occurred, and he said the risk to the community was greatly reduced now that Rose had also been apprehended.
However magistrate Sue McGowan upheld Queanbeyan magistrate Chris Bone's decision to refuse bail back in September, citing the seriousness of the charges and the need to protect witnesses and the wider community.
"Magistrate Bone made a decision that nothing could be done to mitigate those risks, and I concur with that decision," Magistrate McGowan said.
The 29-year-old is yet to enter pleas to charges of aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence in company and driving while disqualified as a result of the incident.
Police allege Brown and his co-accused Rose instigated the violent home invasion on the morning of Sunday, September 14.
The prosecution case states that Brown along with Rose and his then girlfriend Kristiane Pang, went to the rural property with the intention of stealing firearms and ammunition.
Rose, armed with a hammer, side cutters and serrated knife, allegedly threatened the elderly homeowners - a 76-year-old man and his 74-year-old wife - and demanded they give him the key to their gun safe.
He then allegedly knocked the man unconscious during the confrontation and also made threats to the couple including that he would cut off their heads, according to court documents.
A .22 rifle and shotgun, ammunition and gun accessories were stolen from the property during the incident.
NSW Police blocked off the area around the Bungendore Road property for some hours that day and launched a man hunt for the perpetrators.
Brown will reappear in court on December 5.
