The generous scheme pays people as much as 50 cents a kilowatt hour for the energy they feed into the grid from the solar panels on their roofs, and such was the clamour to join when it began in early 2009 that the scheme was closed to new customers in 2011 and already looking to overrun its 30 megawatts capacity.

Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah blasted Canberra prop David Shillington's head butt on Aaron Woods as "pretty poor" after he was sent-off in the final minute of a 20-18 loss which looks to have ended the Raiders' finals hopes.
Down 20-18 with seconds left at Canberra Stadium on Monday night, Shillington dropped the ball and after copping a sledge from Woods, appeared to launch his head at the NSW prop in the scrum.

9:28am: The woman who became trapped in her car after colliding with a tow truck in Reid has sustained a back injury and has been taken to hospital, an Emergency Services Agency spokeswoman says.
9:10am: Firefighters have freed a woman who became trapped in her car in the Reid crash this morning, an Emergency Services Agency spokeswoman said.
The car collided with a tow truck at the Gooreen Street and Allambee Street intersection earlier this morning.
ACT Fire & Rescue crews and paramedics removed the roof of the car to free the woman.
9:00am: Police say all lanes are clear on the Tuggeranong Parkway after a car involved in a three-vehicle crashed blocked northbound traffic earlier this morning.
Meanwhile, the two cars involved in the Reid collision are blocking the Gooreen Street and Allambee Street intersection however, police say traffic isn't heavy in the area.
NSW Police say no-one was trapped or seriously injured in the four-car crash on the Barton Highway near Hall earlier this morning.
8:44am: Police are urging road users to avoid the Tuggeranong Parkway between Hindmarsh Drive and Cotter Road if possible, where a car is still blocking the road and disrupting traffic.
In Reid, two cars have collided at the Gooreen Street and Allambee Street intersection, police say.
8:33am: Watch out if you're heading north on the Tuggeranong Parkway - there's been a three-car crash between Hindmarsh Drive and Cotter Road. Police say one car is blocking part of the road.
Meanwhile, there are reports of heavy traffic on the Barton Highway near Hall after the four-car crash there this morning.
There's also been a crash in Reid at the Gooreen Street and Allambee Street intersection.
