Jack Hartigan's first playdate was a milestone that turned into a nightmare when he was savaged by two American pit bull terriers.
Jack was set upon by the dogs – who ripped the skin from his head and exposed his skull, damaged his eye, and tore open his face – when his hosts visited a friend's Griffith home in late 2010.

The Canberra Raiders chances of making a top eight charged copped a major blow when scans revealed Sam Williams will miss five to six weeks with a partial pectoral tear suffered in Friday's 36-22 home win against Newcastle.

Knowing the logistics of aircraft engineering maintenance helped Joe Banhidi switch, in semi-retirement, to knitting alpaca garments so delicate he was asked to make a wedding outfit.
More than once the alpaca farmer has cast his mind back to his engineering days with Qantas ground staff, doing orderly inspections through parts, to help diagnose a problem with a woollen garment, un-picking it and fixing the fault.

One of the coldest fronts in years already dubbed as an Antarctic vortex brought snow to Canberra's doorstep on Sunday and smiles to the faces of many children.
Hundreds of Canberrans packed into cars to sample the snow on the Brindabellas with a Bureau of Meteorology spokesman reporting snowfall down to 800m.
For four-year-old Ella Feuerheardt, her first time seeing snow at Corin Forest was a mixture of excitement and confusion.
