The ACT Heritage Council has refused to reopen public consultation on the future of Northbourne Avenue's run-down public housing assets, despite a planned Supreme Court challenge from the National Trust.
The Hertiage Council believes about 40 per cent of the 1960s precinct should be maintained while the National Trust has sought full protection for the Dickson Towers, Owen Flats, pair houses, three-storey flats and maisonettes.

Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco believes transfer windows could be an option to clean up player contract talks after the NRL scrapped the controversial round 13 rule, despite using it to renege on his deal with the Canberra Raiders.
The rule has been heavily criticised after Manly halfback Daly Cherry-Evans used it to to backflip on a deal with Gold Coast, and the Raiders would have breathed a sigh of relief when the round 13 deadline passed on Wednesday evening, meaning Gold Coast playmaker Aidan Sezer's three-year contract is now official.

A number of Canberra businesses will be recognised for their innovative sustainability practices at this morning's Actsmart Business Sustainability Awards at Manuka Oval from 7.30am.
The Australian War Memorial's latest exhibition, Voices from the Front, explores some of the individual stories from the First World War through the letters and diaries of those who served. It's on display until August 25. Free.

The last thing Melynda Mitchell remembers before she collided with three parked cars was driving out of the supermarket carpark.
"Apparently my head fell backwards and my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I just slumped on to the steering wheel," she said.
Though Ms Mitchell didn't know it at the time, she had just suffered ventricular fibrillation – an often lethal heart rhythm disturbance.
Today the Heart Foundation is painting the town red with its Go Red for Women Day, to raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in women.
