A former Pentagon official who helped investigate the United States' worst intelligence breaches has warned the Australian government its most likely enemy is not high-tech cyber attacks but malicious staff.
Keith Lowry says too few organisations can even identify their most crucial and sensitive data – their "crown jewels" – let alone control and monitor tightly which employees access and transfer it.
And he says reliance on the security vetting of recruits is far from adequate.
- ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr has signalled deregulation in the taxi industry with the arrival of Uber, saying it would be crazy to put up barriers to the ride-sharing company.

The Matildas have ruled out gambling on receiving an easier route through to the knockout stages of the World Cup and to avenge their 2011 loss against Sweden in their final group match.
If Australia were to finish second in the group they would most likely face Brazil in the knockout stages; if they were to qualify as one of the best-placed third placed teams they would face a lower-ranked team.
However, Matildas goalkeper Lydia Williams says the team is keen to atone for thier 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sweden in the 2011 World Cup which resulted in their exit.

9:12am: Police say three cars collided on Wattle Street at Macarthur Avenue, blocking Wattle Street's city-bound lane. Avoid the area if you can. Street sweepers are on the way to clear up.
Further north there's still some traffic congestion around Gungahlin Drive after a three-car crash at Well Station Drive in Mitchell.
9:07am: There's been a crash on Wattle Street in Lyneham, blocking the city-bound part of the road. Police have advised drivers to avoid the area.
8:37am: The three-car crash at Gungahlin Drive and Well Station Drive in Mitchell is still slowing traffic heading down Gungahlin Drive.
Good news southside: traffic lights are working again on Canberra Avenue.

8:16am: No reports of any major crashes yet but be careful if you're driving through Fyshwick or Narrabundah - there are traffic lights out due to a power outage.
