A man was taken to the Canberra Hospital in a critical condition with burns to around 15 per cent of his body after an explosion at Braddon McDonald's on Sunday night.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
- David Harold Eastman is suing the ACT government for wrongful imprisonment. An ACT Supreme Court suit alleges Eastman is eligible for compensation under the Human Rights Act.
- The man promoting a controversial underground gold mine near Majors Creek was in charge of an Australian mine in the Philippines which discharged cyanide-laden waste into creeks, killing fish and other marine creatures.

- Beleaguered Germany announced on Sunday that it would temporarily stop free entrance for asylum seekers.
Four Raiders stars, including Kangaroos and Queensland forward Josh Papalii, have been ruled out of the PM's XIII train-on squad to face Papua New Guinea.
Papalii, props Shannon Boyd and Paul Vaughan and winger Edrick Lee are all being rested to either take care of niggling injuries or undergo surgery.
That leaves Raiders captain Jarrod Croker and fullback Jack Wighton in the mix for the annual end of season match against Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on September 26.
- Belconnen United clinched their third straight ACT women's premier league grand final victory with a comfortable 2-0 win against Canberra FC at McKellar Park on Sunday.

9:12am: The Emergency Services Agency says the car fire at Athllon Drive and Learmonth Drive was a blown engine.
Police say the incident has been cleared so, traffic should return to normal soon.

It's painter Michael Fitch's 13th year painting the Floriade scenery.
Michael Fitch has been observing Floriade's colourful bulbs, buzzing paths and spring scents for more than a decade.
Over the opening weekend of Canberra's annual spring celebration, the impressionist painted his favourite event among friendly skies and huge crowds.
"I enjoy getting out of winter and enjoying the spring to paint the flowers, the willow trees and the people," Mr Fitch said.
He's painted at the past 13 of the city's 28 Floriades and said "the vibrant colours seem to get brighter every year."

Troy and Lauren McGuigan don't want their daughter Annie remembered as she was in the months before her death. They want memories of their sweet, funny, affectionate toddler to override images of the sick little girl who died, aged four, from brain cancer less than five weeks ago.
That's why they're urging Canberrans to confront the discomfort of childhood cancer and open their eyes to families in their midst who might be suffering during September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
