Australian team captain Anna Meares has bombed out of Olympic sprint medal running, her riding plans beyond Rio unclear, after bowing out of the individual competition this morning with rides well off the pace.
- Seven people have been injured after an overhead camera fell from a cable at the Barra Olympic Park on Monday. Images showed two women bloodied and bruised, but reports said the women did not suffer major injuries.
- Australia's hockey fraternity had been annoyed by media confusion about the respective names of the men's and women's teams, but ultimately the same fate befell both sides.
- In April Ella Nelson ripped her hamstring, twice. She fretted that her outstanding summer could all just lead to a forlorn winter. On Monday in Rio Nelson's repaired hamstrings pulled her through her fit Olympics heat and into the semi final of the 200m.
TRAFFIC
10:00am: Roads remain closed on Athllon Drive and Florence Taylor Street in Greenway and police are urging people to stay away from the area.
There are likely still some holdups at the intersection of Yamba Drive and Dookie Street in Isaacs.
Police say roads are clear on the intersection with the Tuggeranong Parkway and Lady Denman Drive.
9:35am: Police say there has been a two-car crash on the intersection of Yamba Drive and Dookie Street in Isaacs. There is apparently one lane of traffic travelling northbound on Yamba Drive.
9:25am: There has been a three-car crash on the Tuggeranong Parkway southbound, just after the Glenloch interchange. Police say there are significant delays where the parkway intersects with Lady Denman Drive.
There's been another two-car crash on the intersection of Athllon Drive and Florence Taylor Street in Greenway. One vehicle still on the road. Police say there are delays in the area.
Road Closures:
Jardine Street in Kingston will be closed in both directions from Highgate Lane to Giles Street between 9am-4pm on periodic days until November 30.
