The shocking drama in the cricket world continues to unfold this morning, with the International Cricket Council suspending Steve Smith for a Test match over the ball tampering furore in South Africa.

This ensures Tim Paine will continue to lead the disgraced team for the final leg of the Johannesburg series.

The crisis, which confronted the team yesterday, forced Smith and David Warner to sensationally stand down from the captaincy and vice-captaincy for the rest of the third Test.

This is a concerning story. Patrick Askew went to Calvary Hospital after falling off his skateboard in February, and after waiting 12 hours he was treated for a broken wrist and sent home. The next day the 19 year old ended up in emergency brain surgery for a brain bleed that was growing bigger by the hour.

It is one of two cases the hospital has confirmed it has recently reviewed where a brain bleed or aneurysm was possibly missed.

Canberra hockey star Anna Flanagan is no stranger to pushing her body hard, but next month she will go to the next level, running her first ever half marathon on April 15 as part of the Australian Running Festival.

Flanagan has played 171 games for the Hockeyroos, and says she usually runs seven kilometres in a match (makes me tired just thinking about it!). She also says it's not too late to start training.

How about them Giants? GWS had a dream start to the season at Manuka Oval on Sunday, beating the Western Bulldogs 20.13 (133) to 7.9 (51).

More than 10,000 people turned out to watch Jeremy Cameron boot six goals for the Giants and Toby Greene snagged four of his own.

It was a horror day for the Bulldogs' Tom Liberatore though, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the first quarter.
