Government plots course for stage two light rail
The ACT government has come out with its preferred route for stage two of the light rail to Woden.
But before they get too carried away, they need to wait for the green light from federal government authorities affected by the proposal.
The favoured route will travel to Woden through the suburbs of Parkes and Barton. The alternative was to run the track through Civic and near Parliament House.
Threatened little eagles have record breeding season
A record number of little eagle chicks have been reared in the ACT this breeding season.
At least nine nesting pairs of little eagles were found during a research effort to monitor the birds during the 2017-18 breeding season.
ACT conservator of flora and fauna, Ian Walker, said six of the pairs laid eggs, with a record four chicks reared.
"This is the highest annual number of egg-laying pairs recorded in recent years in the ACT," Mr Walker said.
Pokies plan left casino in the dark
Canberra Casino's owners say the ACT government kept them in the dark for 17 months over poker machine plans critical to the venture's future.
Aquis lodged its unsolicited casino redevelopment bid with the government in 2015, part of which was to include hundreds of poker machines.
But talks over the proposal have dragged on for several years, with government and the casino struggling to find a middle ground, generating uncertainty about whether it will actually go ahead.

Bunnings Warehouse coming to Canberra Airport next month
Fans of DIY and home renovations only have to wait a little bit longer for Canberra's new Bunnings Warehouse.
Bunnings Warehouse at Canberra Airport is expected to open its doors at the end of next month, creating 140 new jobs.
Bunnings acquired the site in 2016 when Woolworths closed the doors of its home-improvement chain, Masters.

Greens leader backed controversial loan repayment
ACT Greens leader Shane Rattenbury threw his weight behind a controversial plan to make the city's biggest community housing provider repay a $50 million loan.
Community Housing Canberra (CHC) was told last year that it had to start paying back the loan at $2.5 million, putting the provider's future under a cloud.
Mr Rattenbury, who sits in Cabinet for the ACT Greens, has confirmed he supported the decision to force repayments to start last year, the earlier opportunity to do so under the terms of the agreement.
