It's Valentine's Day, which all the single people are probably well aware of. For the loved-up who may have forgotten this "Hallmark" day, here are some last minute Canberra ideas. Or perhaps you can just write a nice letter - more on that below.
The cooler weather will continue today, with a top of 28 degrees forecast. It will return into the 30s for the rest of the working week tomorrow.
Here's what's making news this morning:
Inner city pressure
Acton, Braddon, Campbell, Civic, Turner and Reid sound like pretty nice suburbs to call home, but turns out the central city and the trendy inner north are home to the ACT's least healthy residents.
Steven Trask has the story, which is based on new analysis by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
Tech-wreck costing $100,000 a day
Up to 80 IT technicians, most of them contractors, are working frantically to fix the new Child Support payment system, a job the Department of Human Services pledged would be done by December 2015.
And it's costing taxpayers at least $100,000 a day.
Public Service reporter Noel Towell has the story.
Calwell woman settles hospital lawsuit for $12 million
Stacey Louise Cave settled her case against the Canberra Hospital, her GP and neurologist, having alleged that failures to treat her migraines caused her to suffer a stroke and left her dependent on a wheelchair.
The case stemmed from Ms Cave's use of the drug Deseril over many years to treat migraines, which the former teacher had suffered since she was a teenager.
Here's Alexandra Back's story.
Love Box a place for declarations of love
When Lisa Mukti Petheram installed the Love Box on a bicycle path in the inner north, she hoped it would spur people into expressing their hidden feelings.
But she had no idea there would be such a steady stream of love letters pouring in through the slot.
Looking for a touching way to let your loved one know you care this Valentine's Day? The Love Box sure beats a text.
Karen Hardy has the story.
ACT Brumbies consider comeback deal for Andrew Walker
Here's one for fellow ageing aspiring sports stars; Brumbies coaches are seriously considering the prospect of signing veteran back Andrew Walker.
Walker, at a tender 43 years of age, would become the oldest player in Super Rugby history.
Coach Stephen Larkham said the team was "open to all options" after Walker's shock comeback at the Brisbane 10s.
Read Chris Dutton's story on Walker here. Meanwhile (for the aspiring teenage sports stars), Canberra schoolgirl Grace Maher has been called into the Australian women's soccer squad.
