Earlier this month, Fairfax Media revealed Commonwealth Bank senior staff were in 2013 alerted to employees propping up Dollarmites accounts to meet performance targets.

Commonwealth Bank's Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan branches had 73 and 43 potentially suspect accounts respectively. A Commonwealth Bank spokeswoman told the Sunday Canberra Times school principals weren't contacted until May 22, the day after the article was published.

Jerrabomberra School parents association executive Bryce Wilson said Commonwealth Bank's future involvement at the school would be raised at the next meeting.

"It does show a pretty poor process," Mr Wilson said.

"It's an important matter. I would call on other schools to consider it as well."

Mr Wilson said it was important children learned about savings but he said they might switch banks.

ACT Council of Parents and Citizens Associations acting executive Janelle Kennard said many schools valued programs like Dollarmites as an easy way to teach children about savings and finances.

"I think all parents would want the bank to model the level of honesty that we would expect from our children," Ms Kennard said.

The scandal involves potentially thousands of accounts across Australia in which staff were incentivised to establish accounts for bonuses or performance targets.

The staff would use the bank's money or their own to activate Youthsaver accounts. Whilst parents had signed up their children for the account, if they had not made a deposit within 30 days the account was not deemed active and bank staff would not receive bonuses or meet performance targets.

Kambah's Caroline Chisholm Primary School was confirmed as a school which uses the Dollarmites program but would not comment for this story.
