He is taking every precaution to make sure his family and property are as safe as possible with conditions tipped be be particularly dangerous this year.
Mr Lilleyman said he's never seen the ground as dry at this time of year as it currently is in the five years he's been on the property,
"The bushfire plan is not something we dust off at this time of year, we're acting it all year round .. so we don't end up this time of year in a panic," Mr Woolley said.
"Any smell of smoke around here and we're on it."
Chief officer of the ACT Rural Fire Service Joe Murphy urged everyone to organise a bushfire survival plan, with the season officially starting on Sunday.
He said the drier than average winter and an increase in forest fuel could lead to a challenging bushfire season in the ACT.
"We really need to make Canberrans aware that the conditions out there are very dry, it is going to remain dry to at least December according to our colleagues at the bureau.
"It is time to prepare your bush fire survival plan, you've got to do it now you can't wait until the fire's here.
"Already we're seeing increased fire activity in the ACT and into NSW."
He said while the season's conditions were as bad as the 2003 bushfires, the ACT was better positioned to deal with the threat with improved fire management.
Mr Murphy urged everyone to be vigilant about fire bugs and report any suspicious behaviour.
"You're putting your community, your family at danger, nobody should be even thinking about that," he said.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman said the advice to the Canberra community about this year's bushfire season was clear.
"The RFS and emergency services personal have done the best they possibly can to prepare for this season," he said.
"The issue is that we haven't been able to do the amount of prescribed burns that we'd like to do because of weather conditions but we need to keep an eye on that.
"We're prepared for the bushfire season but we need canberrans to be as well."
