Canberra's Persian community were carefully monitoring the progress of a high-profile international deal that will reset Iran-US relations.

On Tuesday, Iran and a group of six nations led by the US agreed to significantly limit Tehran's nuclear ability in return for an ease of oil and financial sanctions.
Hajir Daneshvar, the outgoing board member of the Iranian Community of Canberra Association, said it was too early to tell what impact the deal would have on the Canberra community.
"We have different generations of Iranians in Canberra so some might look at the option of going home, but based on experience everyone will take it with an element of doubt," he said.
"It's a diverse community. This deal won't change much for the minorities as it has little do with human rights as opposed to nuclear issues and trade."
Mr Daneshvar said there were 450 Persians on the association's mailing list although he believed there may be up to 2000 living in the ACT.
"I would say a majority of people are happy about the deal but some are unhappy because they believe this will let the regime survive a little longer, as they'll have greater access to money with an improving economy," he said.
Mr Daneshvar is one of many highly skilled migrants who migrated to Australia to seek better working conditions and a new life.
He is now employed as a service engineer working on medical imaging equipment like MRI and CT scanners.
"I was looking for a legal way to get to a first world country and all I had was my education, work experience and skills so I looked at my options," she said.
With a master's degree in biomedical engineering, Mr Daneshvar arrived in Australia in 2008 before settling in Canberra two years later.
"I think the new generation of skilled migrants are happy about the deal and hope that it will at least improve the economy and bring some relief," he said.
"My brother and my family are still living over there and the economy is a big issue so if foreign investment and international relations can improve that will be a good thing."
Mr Daneshvar said the Persian community was active in the ACT and regularly met to celebrate traditional events.
"With migration you go through some hardships and tough states but the good thing is the more that time passes the more you get settled," he said.
