Exploring impermanence

Two new exhibitions have opened this week at Beaver Galleries. Dianne Fogwell's Renascent is a collection of layered linocuts that engage with the cyclical passage of decay and renewal within her local environment. Fogwell has exhibited widely across Australia and in group shows internationally for the past 40 years. She is represented in numerous collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Library of Australia, Artbank, Australian War Memorial, Canberra Museum and Gallery and the Art Institute of Chicago (USA). Glass artist Andrew Baldwin's impermanence uses the vessel as a vehicle to explore notions of impermanence and emptiness. He graduated with Honours from the Glass Workshop at the Australian National University, School of Art in 2000. His works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, National Glass Collection at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and the Toyama City Glass Collection (Japan). Both exhibitions are on show until March 5. beavergalleries.com.au.
