Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Shane Rattenbury said construction activity over the next 12 months would have a significant effect on traffic and bus services in the area, with traffic along Constitution Avenue to be reduced to one lane each way.

The next stage of works will include a central median strip running the full length of the avenue between Anzac Parade and London Circuit, upgrades to footpaths and intersections, landscaping, large stormwater drains and the reconstruction of the southern carriageway.

Although works were scheduled to minimise disruptions, Mr Rattenbury said drivers should expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

"Traffic will be moved to the northern carriageway and reduced to one lane in each direction between Allara Street and Anzac Parade East," he said.

"When the work is complete, traffic will then switch to use the southern carriageway to allow work on the northern carriageway."
