The Dickson College year 11 student will spend two weeks honing her glass art skills as the Canberra Glassworks' first ACT school resident.
The internship, which comes with a $500 allowance for lessons and materials and studio space, is a major boost for Broni, who is hoping to study the art at ANU when she graduates from school.
She won the residency after submitting her ideas for the internship and images of 10 of her artworks.
"I'll get a bit of time in the studio and also some short workshops with artists consolidating some of the skills I have," she said.
Broni undertook an internship last year with Canberra glass artist Ruth Oliphant and currently studies visual art and black and white photography at college.
She was drawn to glass because of its ability to allow varied forms of expression.
"I've never really been a painter or a drawer, but I've always loved sculpture," she said.
"Glass is so flexible and it works in a lot of modern ways as well as historical. I find it really interesting that you have stained-glass windows from hundreds of years ago and now it's a really upcoming medium in a different way."
During her time at the glassworks, Broni will be able to work with materials and styles ranging from collage, clay, print on fabric and glass.
She said the internship allowed her to continue honing her skills before starting university.
"I think this is a great opportunity for me to explore it independently," she said.
"I thought I'd have to put my passion on hold for a couple of years until I'm in uni, but it's great that I can keep doing it through school as well."
Dickson College is considering including a glass unit in next year's visual arts course at the school with Broni's help.
The student internship is one of seven residencies Canberra Glassworks offers, which cater for a range of graduates, established artists, locals and international glassworkers.
