Do you want to be a professional beer or lolly taster?

After Canberra company Serendibitea revealed it was searching for a paid tea taster - and got a whole lot of social media action as a result - other companies have drawn attention to their efforts to find someone who can taste their products.

Liquor chain store Dan Murphy's is looking for "one lucky Aussie'' to become its official craft beer reviewer.

Last year's winner, Matt Walters, received a case of beer every month to review it for the Dan Murphy’s Facebook page.

Entrants are encouraged to share their favourite craft beer on a video or image accompanied by 250 words either on the Dan Murphy’s Facebook page or on their own Instagram account. You then need to hashtag #MyCraftChoice and tag @DanMurphys. The winner will receive a series of craft six-packs to review, plus four all-expenses-paid brewery tours.

And then there is the chance to eat lollies in a professional capacity.

The international Sour Patch brand is on the lookout for volunteers to join a tasting panel for its products.

The aim of the panel is to ensure the products remain super-sour and "blow fans’ tastebuds away''.

One of the prerequisites for the Sour Patch taster will be being able to eat an entire lemon without pulling an "extreme sour face'' to prove you have a high tolerance for sour flavours.

Then, slightly disturbingly, the winner needs to be able to "taste like a washing machine; using your tongue to "mimic the action of clothes going around in a washing machine''.

Sarah Calman, head taster at Sour Patch Australia, was excited to be leading the panel.

“There are a number of secrets to creating delicious sour-tasting treats and we’re looking for committed fans who can help unlock taste-bud tingling combinations, just like our latest Sour Patch Max product," Ms Calman said.

"Sour specialists on the panel will need to prepare for watery eyes and ‘extreme scrunched-up faces’ from the super ‘sour-then-sweet’ flavour punch.''
