Kerry Roy Bye, 25, is accused of taking the woman in a taxi back to his Cook unit and assaulting her after they met outside Cube nightclub.

It's alleged the man choked the 19-year-old and pulled her hair, before she escaped and was found naked at the Cook shops carpark.

Dr Amanda Jane Van Diemen told the ACT Supreme Court on Thursday she had examined the woman on November 13, 2015, the same day of the alleged offences. The offences are said to have happened sometime after 4am.

The doctor said the 19-year-old was "quite focused" during the exam on her sore throat.

"She was unaware of the majority of her injuries," Dr Van Diemen told the court under questioning from prosecutor Jane Campbell.

Photographs of the injuries were shown on a screen to the jury, and included small horizontal bruises on the woman's eyelid, and red marks across her face, neck and nose.

The jury saw an "ovoid" abrasion on the woman's left upper back, and also red marks on the scalp, which the doctor said were "typically" seen following allegations of hair pulling.

The doctor said the woman had an abrasion on her genitals consistent with blunt force trauma.

Bye's defence barrister Ken Archer did not have the opportunity on Thursday before court adjourned to cross-examine Dr Van Diemen.

Earlier on Thursday, the court heard from a friend of Bye's who had been out with the 25-year-old that night and had returned to the unit that morning about 6am.

He said Bye had answered the door in a towel, and he had shortly after seen a set of wooden drawers thrown at Bye in the bedroom.

Bye's friend told the court a woman had run from the unit and into the courtyard, where she climbed and went "head first" over a fence.

Bye is charged with four counts of rape, two of sexual assault in the second degree, one count of committing an indecent act and one of unlawful confinement.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
