A drunk man who pooed on a park bench near the Civic merry-go-round put children at risk due to his "disgusting" behaviour, a court has heard.

Liam Thomson, 25, was with a group of mates in Civic at 3.20am on September 13, when a dare prompted him to pull his pants down and squat on a park bench in City Walk.
Police were patrolling nearby and yelled at him to stop, but not before he'd left his mark.
Thomson was charged with offensive behaviour in a public place, and had little to offer in way of an explanation when he appeared before Magistrate Bernadette Boss on Tuesday.
"I was really drunk at the time, your honour," he said.
Dr Boss was unimpressed with that offering, and Thomson acknowledged it wasn't a good explanation.
"There's absolutely no excuse for what I've done," he said.
The court heard the crime was at the upper end of seriousness for offences of its type.
Dr Boss said it could have put the health of children at risk the next morning. She said it was possible kids could have picked up the faeces or put it in their mouths.
"You chose to commit this offence near a place where children can play," Dr Boss said.
She described the behaviour as disgusting, and said it could have had serious ramifications for public health.
"You're certainly old enough to know better than to act in this exceedingly childish way, even for a dare."
Thomson was convicted and fined $300.
