The ACT Supreme Court has tentatively set a date in May 2017 for David Eastman's retrial over the alleged murder of a police chief.

Eastman spent almost 19 years in jail before his conviction for the murder of Colin Stanley Winchester was quashed in 2014.
In April, the ACT Supreme Court threw out his attempt to permanently halt a retrial through a stay of proceedings. He is currently appealing this decision, a hearing on which is scheduled for late October.
The May 15, 2017 retrial date is dependent on both the outcome of Eastman's appeal on the stay and any pre-trial applications by counsel.
The court heard on Thursday that a judge has yet to be appointed to oversee the retrial - which is set to be heard by a jury.
The case will next appear in court in October for return of subpoenas.
