Online retailer Etsy has partnered with Melbourne hotel The Cullen to create a curated hotel room featuring carefully-selected items from Etsy.
One of the artists whose work was selected is Canberra glass artist John White, of Whiteglass Designs.
With a background in furniture making and a self-confessed "Jack of all trades, master of none", John decided to study glass making six years ago at ANU as a mature student.
John, who has worked out of a studio at the Canberra Glassworks for the past 12 months, said he was sceptical when he first heard about Etsy's project.
"I thought it was one of those weird emails you get. But once I did some research I was very excited," he said.
"I think having a hotel that promotes artistic views and people's work and things like that as part of everyday life is a great thing."
John has a small candle holder, some cups and a vase from Whiteglass Designs featured in the hotel room.
There's no word on whether there are more plans for this sort of collaboration in the future, but John said it's a step in the right direction.
"As far as I'm aware from what they told me, it's a start for them to more broadly support a lot more of their clients or the customers that use Etsy. So for us artists, every bit helps," he said.
Guests can choose to stay in the one-of-a-kind junior penthouse during the next two weeks in April.
