Expressions of interest open for Boundless Playground kiosk

The authority proposes to build a full-service, hard-stand space at Kings Park, off Wendouree Drive in Parkes, with connection to sewerage, water, electricity and communication facilities suitable for a commercial food service.

The authority says the kiosk would be the final milestone for the Boundless enterprise. Boundless Playground is Canberra's first all-abilities playground, and was earlier this year named the capital's most popular park.

National Capital Authority chief executive Sally Barnes said the authority was looking for a semi-transportable kiosk and operator to cater for the growing audience at both the playground and visitors to Kings Park.

"The playground is a popular destination for locals and visitors to Canberra," Ms Barnes said.

"This added amenity will no doubt enhance the visitor experience, and creates an exciting business opportunity."

Ms Barnes said the site would undergo minor construction work, including the installation of essential services and some additional public amenities.

She said the works would provide an area for the successful respondent to place a semi-transportable kiosk.

Along with the hard-stand space, the authority also proposes to construct park amenities including a deck area, outdoor seating and picnic tables within surveillance distance of the playground.

"The authority understands the importance of this site and will place a strong emphasis on the design to ensure that it is in keeping with its environs," Ms Barnes said.

Responses to the call for expressions of interest are due by November 23.
