Fire crews have contained a blaze which engulfed an abandoned building in Hawker on Thursday night.

ACT Fire and Rescue were called to the building at the corner of Jinka and Walhallow Streets about 9.30pm.

Four pumpers and a bronto aerial firefighting platform were sent to the Belconnen suburb, as about 20 firefighters fought the blaze.
The fire was contained about 11pm, but crews remained on site to monitor hotspots and conduct salvage operations.
