Firefighters battle grass fire near Belconnen

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service had up to eight units working to extinguish a grass fire burning in a paddock about 200 metres from Stockdill Drive.

The fire was extinguished as of 7.15pm.

An Emergency Services Agency spokeswoman said there were no immediate threats to nearby properties and firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze.

She said the fire was about 50 metres long and burning slowly as of 6.40pm. Flames had reached about half a metre in height.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire was set at advice.
