Flags wilt on Queen's visit 60 years ago

Sixty years ago this week (in 1954) Canberra was loyally agog as the Queen made her first visit to our city. It was sunny when she arrived at Fairbairn (our photograph shows Canberra urchins greeting her there), but there was rain about.
