A suspected shoplifter fleeing from officers has climbed a wall in a bid to hide - and ended up at a police station.

Police said officers went to Gunghalin bus interchange about 3.35pm Tuesday after a staff member at the Reject Shop said a man had left ths store with a trolley full of items after making no attempt to pay for them.
The staff member pointed out the man to officers on Ernest Cavanagh Street, and police said the suspect ran away across Anthony Rolfe Avenue.
"A short time later, the male was seen scaling the fence into the joint Emergency Services Centre, which includes the Gungahlin Police Station, where he then attempted to hide," they said in a statement.
They arrested a 30-year-old man from Red Hill and will charge him with theft.
