The former owner of a Belconnen cafe is facing court for allegedly failing to keep records showing young employees were paid correctly.

Dr Nathem Al-Naser will face the Federal Court later this month after a 2015 audit by the Fair Work Ombudsman of the Cafe on Benjamin at the Belconnen Westfield shopping centre.
Auditors alleged the limited availability of wage records stopped them from assessing whether four employees aged between 18 and 24 had been paid correctly.
They also allegedly found that Dr Al-Naser failed to issue three employees with any pay slips at all, with the fourth only provided with pay slips intermittently.
The current operators of Cafe on Benjamin had no involvement in any of the alleged breaches committed by Dr Al-Naser.
Dr Al-Naser faces maximum penalties of $5100 for each of his alleged three breaches of the Fair Work Act.
Parent company Global Trading and Investments Group Ltd, of which Dr Al-Naser was director, faces maximum fines of $25,500 per breach.
Fair Work Ombudsman Natalie James said the government had serious concerns about such alleged breaches.
"When we come across alleged record-keeping that is so sub-standard it prevents our inspectors from determining whether employees are receiving their minimum entitlements we take these matters very seriously," she said.
Dr Al-Naser is due to appear in the Federal Circuit Court in Canberra on Monday March 20.
