Glistening and untouched, the snow at Thredbo will soon turn the sleepy village into a bustling tourist destination that excites even longtime locals.

Local Noni Plewes has lived in Thredbo for more than 35 years and is still thrilled by the massive changes Thredbo experiences each year as visitors reach the town.
"The population goes from 300 people to five-and-a-half thousand almost over night, it's incredible", Ms Plewes said.
"But we love the tourists, we need them.
"Without their business the town wouldn't prosper the way it does."
Snow sport enthusiasts, families and eager children will head to the popular holiday destination this long weekend to celebrate the official opening of the mountain.
Featuring a wide array of activities and events, including workshops for kids, ice-skating, a champagne long lunch and a concert series, the festivities are expected to bring 3000 tourists to the area.
Though drawing people from surrounding areas, the popular winter destination sees visitors from all over the world venturing to its peaks to get a taste of the snow.
Yemen-born Shuhd Alsharki, 22, said she would spend two days in Thredbo and said she was "astounded" at the amount of snow she has seen.
"It's been really exciting being in Australia and seeing snow here", she said.
"You don't usually associate snow with Australia, but it's amazing how much there is."
According to Thredbo communications manager Susie Diver, the good conditions have given rise to a sense of anticipation in the town, with many lodge owners readying themselves for the influx of visitors, many of who make an annual trip to the opening.
"The long weekend really builds a great sense of community," she said.
"So many people have been coming down to the long weekend as a family all their lives.
"There's a really good vibe with lots of excitement and enthusiasm from both the local community as well as tourists."
Recent days have seen more than 30cm of snow-fall and temperatures of around minus 17 on the mountain range, benefiting all four resort areas. Popular ski location Perisher set to open its main chairlift early to skiers and snowboarders due to the ideal conditions.
According to Ms Diver the cold, dry conditions have been ideal for snow-making, which will create the perfect base for skiers and snow boarders.
"This time of year it's great to be able to get this kind of snow on the ground, this really is the best case scenario for the opening weekend," Ms Diver said.
