Fun for kids at Summernats 30 at Exhibition Park in Canberra - and don't forget the Citycruise on Thursday

The Kids Club will be open at Summernats on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

There will be face-painting, a jumping castle, water balls and trophies awarded in categories such as best-decorated hat.

"It's basically a chill-out zone for the little ones," a Summernats spokesman said.

But it's not a babysitting service. Parents must stay with their kids at the club which will be located near Central Park inside Gate 2.

But before all that, there is the spectacular annual Summernats Citycruise.

It will take place at midday on Thursday down Northbourne Avenue.

Expect a 300-strong procession of hot rods, street machines and highly-modified vehicles.

Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez said the Citycruise was a highlight of what was a four-day celebration of horsepower and mechanical wizardry.

"It's a favourite event at the 'Nats every year for entrants and Canberrans alike," Lopez said.

"It's our unique way of kicking off the event and a great way for the local community to get involved.

"Nothing quite beats the sight of 300 incredible cars rumbling down Northbourne Ave."

Starting at Exhibition Park, the cruise route will begin on Flemington Road, before turning right onto the Federal Highway/Northbourne Avenue.

The cruise then continues on into the city, before turning around at London Circuit and heading back along Northbourne to EPIC.

The best places to view the show are in the city, along the cruise route up Northbourne Avenue, and at the entrance and exit of the cruise route from EPIC.

Spectators should note the central median strip is off limits on Northbourne Avenue/Federal Highway.
