Hundreds of people are expected to pay their respects to horticulturist Adam Burgess as he is farewelled at his beloved National Arboretum Canberra on Thursday.

The funeral for Mr Burgess will be held in the main visitors' centre at the arboretum at 3.30pm on Thursday; the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion not big enough to hold the expected large crowd.

Mr Burgess passed away last week aged just 43. He was the curator of living collections at the arboretum and a part of the building of the arboretum's forests right from the start.
A fund has also been started to help his family.
