"Shall we or shall we not dance this season? That is the question racking the social centre of many suburbs at the present time. It is a very vexed question, for nobody really looks upon it in a light sipirit, as dancing for dancing's sake, but merely as a form of aid to the many friends to help our soldiers.

"So many say they 'simply could not think of dancing at such a time as this,' to which others.reply, 'What about dances in aid of the Red Cross, or funds for wounded soldiers?' "

"So there is the pro and con of it. To some dancing is an impossibility, to others a duty, and there is always a percentage of careless, care-free youth who can, for the moment, forget even the troubles of the nation in the excitement of the dance. For many reasons it is necessary that some of us should dance this season, even at the risk of being called callous; but, after all, isn't it the bravest part to smile and dance with head held high, in order to help funds for the soldiers, as well as keep from the miseries of unemployment hundreds of workers whose existence depends on the entertainments of the social season?
