The Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, retired Defence Force chief Angus Houston and several diplomats expressed solidarity for France during a reception at Government House on Monday.

"I had a moment of solidarity this morning at the French Embassy where there was a condolence ceremony and I was pleased to see so many diplomats and other supporters there," Sir Peter said.
The comment was made during a welcome speech for the Australian Services Cricket Association's (ASCA) International Defence Cricket Challenge 2015.
Sir Houston, a patron of ASCA, said he was incredibly saddened, shocked and outraged by the terrorist attacks in France, which killed at least 129 people and injured 200 more.
"My heart goes out to the relatives of the victims. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this time and I stand with them, I mourn with them, I grieve with them and I show my solidarity to the French people at this terrible time," he said.
Our priority should be to care for the critically injured and support the French people who will be traumatised by the tragedy, Mr Huston explained.
"It's a time to stand together and make it very clear to ISIL that these sources of outrages will not make us give up," he said.
"If anything, it will stiffen our resolve to ensure that they're well and truly beaten in the long haul."
High Commissioners and Ambassadors to Australia who attended the event also expressed their condolences.
Fiji's High Commissioner Yogesh Punja, and Malaysian High Commissioner, Dato' Zainal Abidin Ahmad, said our communities must not be broken by such atrocities.
Pakistan High Commissioner Naela Chohan, stressed the terrorists are an inhumane, politically motivated group and must not be mistaken for guardians of religion. She thinks they should only be called Daesh, not Islamic State.
"If you fulfil their agenda then you are strengthening them," she said.
"And it has to be resolved by the people of those countries – Syria and Iraq – so that these non-state actors can not transcend national boundaries and act wherever and whatever to justify themselves."
But Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission Tony Brennan, who lived in Paris for a year, said preventing radicalisation on our back door step is just as important.
"We are all learning about how these teenage boys who feel disenfranchised are being told lies online and believing them, and we've got to do something about that," he said.
"We will stand together."
