Groping, facing backwards, in the dark

We didn't need an array of by-elections to know the government is in desperate trouble, probably beyond its capacity to recover over the next 10 months. It's Malcolm Turnbull's fault, of course. It's always the leader, particularly when he preaches leadership. But the problem is incapable of being solved by yet another leadership coup – indeed, at this moment, that would pretty much aggravate the coming disaster facing the Coalition.
