Graham Tupper and his family are leading tours from the lakefront near Floriade and when the flower festival finishes Mr Tupper plans to run regulated tours starting from the National Museum of Australia.
"We're a local Canberra family that loves the outdoor adventures and we've been cycling and kayaking around Canberra for decades," Mr Tupper said.
"Canberra was really designed from the ground up to be around the lake."
Canberra Urban Adventures is run by Mr Tupper and his family who wanted to share their passion for adventure with others.
"My kids grew up in Canberra and they'll tell you that dad always loves taking them off into the mountains along rivers, along the lakes, along the cycle ways and just exploring every little nook and cranny around Canberra," he said.
"We love our city and we just want to open it up to local people and visitors to enjoy it in the easiest way possible - on the lake and around the lake."
Mr Tupper said regular one-hour and two-hour sunset kayak tours will run during the daylight saving months from the jetty at Lawson Crescent.
Children from age six years up can join the fun with a parent or grandparent in a double kayak.
He said it will be the first time guided pedal tours will be offered on Lake Burley Griffin.
The paddle boat hire business at West Basin on the lakeside was closed in controversial circumstances in 2015 to make way for the ACT government's City to the Lake development.
"Up until about a year ago, you could hire both paddle boats...but all of that's closed down so people who used to enjoy getting on the lake can't do that at the moment if they don't have their own boat," Mr Tupper said.
The business will also offer electric bike tours.
"Canberra was also designed with cyclepaths at the very beginning...we have some of the world's best cycleways here in Canberra."
"This is a chance for both locals and visitors to enjoy those cyclepaths, especially those who need a little bit of help with the hills, that's what electric bikes are for."
The Floriade pop-up kayak tours will do a circuit of the central lake including the Captain Cook water jet, Aspen Island and the National Carillon.
