Burns will be carried out in Latham and Dunlop on Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting.
An ACT Parks and Conservation Service spokesman said the fires would burn about seven hectares of vegetation at Umbagong District Park in Latham on Wednesday.
The Dunlop fires would burn about 10 hectares of vegetation at Canberra Nature Park next to Douglas Waterhouse Drive and Kerrigan Street on Thursday.
The ACT Health Directorate has advised people with asthma and other chronic respiratory or chronic cardiac diseases to avoid vigorous exercise and to stay inside if affected by the smoke.
People with asthma should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any breathing difficulties.
The Parks and Conservation spokesman said every effort was made to conduct burns in weather conditions that minimised the impact of smoke on residents of the ACT and surrounding NSW.
Highly experienced fire managers, supported by trained firefighters, will conduct the burning operations, while staff will monitor the burn site until smoke has not been visible for 24 hours.
