Canberra milliner Christine Warning's creativity knows no end, as she comes up with stunning designs each race season.
Among her work trackside at the Black Opal this year will be this striking boater with matching ribbons and veiling for Kingston's Stephanie Davies.
Stephanie, 23, who works in property development, also has showjumping horses and commentates at polo and equestrian events around the country, often wearing one of Christine's hats.
The hat was inspired by her Mossman dress from Momento Dezigns in Manuka.
Stephanie says it's all about fashion at the Black Opal.
"And it's been improving each year," she said.
"I love being able to go to a premier race event in Canberra. There's lots of prize money on offer and it attracts a lot of interstate people. It's a good way to showcase Canberra."
Christine, meanwhile, says her autumn/winter collection will feature fur felts and leathers with fedoras, berets and sculptural felt headpieces on trend. Wrapped turbans will also be popular.
"Pinks, purples and navy are popular along with red/pink combinations -my favourite - are featured in many of the outfits and headwear on the current catwalk shows," Christine said.
"Boaters are always popular whatever season. Plus they suit most people and occasions."
Gates open at Thoroughbred Park at 11.30am on Sunday.
