They've been immortalised on mugs, playing cards and even as earrings, but some of Canberra's iconic concrete bunker bus shelters could soon get a change of scenery.

Bus stops cut off from Canberra's new bus network will be relocated to new areas when the new timetable begins, Transport Canberra has revealed.
About 400 bus stops will become redundant when the new network begins running in 2019.
A total of 3138 stops are in use across the city under the current network, some of which are school-only stops.
But after concerns about students getting stranded, school-only stops have been dumped in favour of sending more regular buses past schools more often.
Some streets - like Hodgson Crescent in Pearce, between MacFarland Crescent and Melrose Drive - will also lose a dedicated bus, with passengers forced to walk further for a bus that comes more regularly.
However other areas, including Ashley Drive in Tuggeranong and Moncrieff, will be getting new stops.
The list of which stops will go will be finalised once community consultation closes this weekend, however Transport Canberra's commercial policy manager Patrick Fischer-Reid said they would not be left to languish.
"Old bus stop infrastructure including the iconic concrete shelters will be relocated across the network to areas of identified demand and need from the community," Mr Fischer-Reid said.
"We are asking the community where shelters can be introduced to provide a better experience on the network."
There are about 500 of the cylindrical, concrete bus shelters across the city.
The first appeared in 1975, and - unlike Canberra's 12 remaining timber bus shelters - are not heritage-listed.
Artist Trevor Dickinson, most famous for his quirky drawings of iconic Canberra places, will exhibit more than 50 drawings of the bus shelters at CMAG in October.
The new network has come under fire from elderly residents and parents alike concerned about the prospect of walking further and changing buses more frequently.
However Mr Fischer-Reid said around 98 per cent of the Canberra residents will be 500 metres to a local bus stop and 800 metres to a rapid bus stop.
"This compares to 99 per cent coverage under the existing network. Both figures are exceptionally high. Access to a rapid route within 800 metres increases from 38 per cent to 55 per cent under the proposed new network," Mr Fischer-Reid said.
He said the network had been developed to ensure the best connection possible to transport hubs, to connect schools with their priority enrolment areas wherever possible and to allow people to reach the maximum number of destinations with just one connection.
The network was also designed to ramp up the frequency of buses within the same funding envelope.
There will be 4200 trips each week day under the new network, up from 3400 currently.
There'll also be 1800 trips on a Saturday and 1600 trips on a Sunday when the new timetable begins, compared to 1345 trips on a Saturday and 999 trips on a Sunday.
Trip frequency is expected to increase even more when the timetable is finalised, Mr Fischer-Reid said.
