Activists peacefully demonstrated against the jurisdiction of the ACT courts over Indigenous Australians in support of an Aboriginal woman challenging its power to hear minor traffic charges against her.

The group of protesters sang and moved through the ACT Magistrates Court precinct, to decry what they saw as an illegitimate prosecution.
Their anger was focussed on the case of Aunty Lee-Anne Lacey, who is facing five charges, including driving an unregistered or suspended vehicle, and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Aunty Lacey has challenged the court's authority to hear the case against her.
She argues the ACT has no legal jurisdiction over the sovereign Indigenous people.
The case has been pushed back to next year.
One of the activists Dylan Wood said the protest was designed to show support for Aunty Lacey, with the ultimate aim of proving the courts have no power over the Indigenous peoples of Australia.
"She has called out the fact that the government and therefore the court have no sovereignty and therefore no jurisdiction in this land," he said.
"Today the court has refused to hear the evidence."
"The sovereignty, jurisdiction and domain of this land does belong to the original people of this land, who were here before the colonisation."
Aunty Lacey's case will appear again in March.
