An irate Canberra resident who complained about a car being on the median strip at Kingston for several weeks has been told the vehicle was legally parked.

FOI documents reveal the complaint was made on January 10 regarding a car that brandished advertising for Dial an Ironer.
In a web submission, the resident said the car near the intersection of Telopea Park, Wentworth Avenue and Bowen Drive was "blatant advertising" and similar to parking a billboard at the intersection.
"However, they are not paying for the privilege of this advertising," the complainant wrote.
"It's hideous and amounts to visual pollution. Please have the owners move it."
Access Canberra replied the car was legally parked in accordance with Australian road rules.
Unhappy with the response, the resident lodged a Freedom of Information request seeking information on all contact with the Dial an Ironer phone number, and whether any Access Canberra employees had an affiliation with Dial an Ironer.
A search revealed no calls to the mobile number, but Access Canberra was unable to say if any employees were connected with the business.
"Access Canberra does not capture this information," the agency advised, adding that under the Public Sector Management Act staff must take all reasonable steps to avoid a conflict of interest and declare one if it occurs.
"There have been no disclosures within Access Canberra regarding the Dial an Ironer business," the FOI response states.
