The Islamic School of Canberra will likely last the school year after its funding was extended to tide it through an ongoing government review of its finances.

Education Minister Simon Birmingham confirmed on Wednesday that the school received a funding extension until December but said that did not mean the school was considered compliant with the Education Act.
"Whilst continued assessment of their compliance issues is undertaken, the Department of Education is determined to give them certainty in terms of ongoing funding while those assessment processes are concluded," he said.
The Weston school's funding was cut off on June 30 after repeated investigations into its finances, governance and independence.
The government's concern has been the school's link with the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. The Islamic School of Canberra rents from AFIC and borrowed several million dollars from the organisation to help see it through a previous funding cut.
The school last month submitted documentation to support its final bid for long-term funding and has worked to distance itself from AFIC.
An Education Department spokeswoman said earlier this month there was no clear timeline for when the review would be completed.
"The department understands the impact of the revocation decision on the school community and will come to a decision in due course to give families and the school certainty," she said.
