Once they were known as Chinese gooseberries – exotic, rare and usually round and lightly furred. Actually, they were also known as "golden hairy goat's testicles", but I didn't want to mention that until further into an article in a family newspaper, where kids hopefully ha ve stopped reading after the first sentence. The golden ones were also round, small, hairy and mostly grew wild as a ground cover.
