ACT authorities have tightened up their court transfer procedures after an embarrassing mistake let an inmate walk free last year.

In October, ACT Corrective Services inadvertently released a man from custody after a hearing in the ACT Magistrates Court.
The inmate was eligible for release at the end of the hearing but should have returned to the Alexander Maconochie Centre on a separate remand warrant.
A spokeswoman from the Justice and Community Safety Directorate said Corrective Services worked with ACT Policing and the Director of Public Prosecutions to resolve the issue quickly.
"The offender attended court as directed on October 12, 2017 and was granted bail," the spokeswoman said.
"The man complied with all court directions, including attending further court hearings and the conditions of his good behaviour order.
"An internal review into this incident recommended an update to the Return to Custody Procedure applying in the Court Transport Unit."
The error was one of several that have marred the ACT's corrective system in recent years.
The Canberra Liberals questioned the competency of Corrections Minister Shane Rattenbury when another prisoner was accidentally released from the jail in December.
Six prisoners have escaped since April 2016.
Four of the men were being treated in the Canberra Hospital at the time of their escape while the remaining two used a ladder left by construction workers to scale three fences.
A serial escapee "did a runner" from the emergency room of the Canberra Hospital after he tricked a corrections officer into uncuffing him so he could use the bathroom.
The JACS spokeswoman said a broader review of all ACT Correction Services policies and procedures was underway, with several changes already made in late 2017 and early 2018.
"This is partly as a result of reviews into the Alexander Maconochie Centre's operations, and general good governance," the spokeswoman said.
