A subcontractor who worked on the multi-million-dollar renovation of the historic John Gorton building in Parkes claims he is owed thousands of dollars by a supplier.

The cost of restoring the ageing building has now passed $8.6 million although the Department of Finance, which is tasked with the project, insists the job is within budget and timelines.
Flooring specialist James Wilson was contracted to work on the building last year but claims he is owed close to $5000 by Queensland-based Globe Services.
His complaint comes a month after another subcontractor claimed he was owed $59,700 by the same company for sanding and painting work at the building.
A Department of Finance spokeswoman said the government had outsourced the work to Sydney-based construction company FiveD, which then hired Globe to perform routine floor-repair work.
A spokeswoman for FiveD said the work by Globe had been completed and she was not aware of any payment disputes between contractors.
"Five D has no outstanding or unpaid invoices owing to Globe so they have been fully paid for the works they were engaged by Five D to carry out," she said.
Correspondence between Mr Wilson's lawyers and Globe Services alleges a payment was not made due to a complaint about the quality of work, despite no objects being raised at the time.
"To our client's extreme surprise, dismay and disappointment, it was never consulted about this; never informed about the original complaint; never given the opportunity to discuss and inspect the alleged complaint; and never given an opportunity to affect any repairs for any accepted faulty work," the letter said.
The spokeswoman said all work on floors in the building had been completed satisfactorily and Globe was paid in full.
"Finance is not aware of any disputes between subcontractors regarding the work or payment," she said.
The John Gorton is fully occupied by staff from the Department of Environment and the Department of Finance. Once Finance finalises its move to its $376 million new premises in Forrest, it's space at the John Gorton building will be progressively taken by Environment.
