Jury hears closing arguments in alleged violent robbery trial

But the man's defence barrister said the case was not "neatly tied up with a bow", and the alleged victim's account was suspect.

It is alleged that a man woke early on the morning of September 26 last year to find Daniel Ronald Po'oi and Manoa Satala Chevalier in the Hawker flat where he was staying.

The two men were allegedly wearing socks on their hands and holding a small sledgehammer and a knife respectively.

It is alleged the pair demanded money and drugs. But the man told them he did not have any and instead offered them his bank card, which unknown to the alleged robbers was recently cancelled.

Mr Po'oi, 32, left the apartment, taking the alleged victim's card and its PIN number, and white iPhone with him, it was further alleged.

While Mr Po'oi was gone, it was alleged Mr Chevalier, 28, threatened the man that he would leave with "two of your fingers".

Mr Chevalier allegedly punched the man and split his lip. They grappled while Mr Chevalier had the knife, and the knife cut the man's hand.

The alleged victim fled the apartment, and Mr Chevalier allegedly chased him and kicked him in the head before he allegedly stabbed him in the back, puncturing a lung.

Addressing the jury on Tuesday, prosecutor Jane Campbell said once they accepted the alleged victim's evidence they would have no difficulty finding Mr Chevalier guilty.

She said the man was matter-of-factly, had remembered what happened and had no idea when he spoke to police that what he said would be corroborated by other evidence.

In contrast, she said, Mr Chevalier had "devised his account ... to fit the evidence."

In his closing address, defence barrister Alyn Doig said it was not a "neat and tidy case".

He asked, for example, that they look at the alleged victim's own evidence of when he was allegedly stabbed in the back, and if the stabbing was "intentional".

He added that while there was forensic evidence found on the sledgehammer on the scene, there was none on the allegedly stolen bank card or iPhone.

"This is not a parcel neatly tied up with a bow," he said.

Mr Chevalier has been on trial in the ACT Supreme Court accused of seven crimes relating to the alleged robbery.

These are one each of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, two of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one each of threat to inflict grievous bodily harm, recklessly inflict actual bodily harm and recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Mr Po'oi was not on trial.

The jury returns on Wednesday to hear Justice John Burns give directions before it retires to consider its verdicts.
