Keep Canberra Open has hit back at a report on alcohol-related harm in Canberra's entertainment precincts as "ridiculous" and a "gross overstatement" of the problem.

Deakin University released research into rates of alcohol-related assaults in Civic and Braddon on Wednesday. Thirty per cent of people polled had been subject to verbal aggression and 17 per cent had had some involvement with physical aggression.
The study also found that alcohol-related crime cost Canberra $11.7 million in 2014-15 and led researchers to call for reduced trading hours for pubs, bars and clubs, last drinks at 2am and minimum standard drink prices.
Keep Canberra Open was victorious in its campaign against lockout laws in the ACT earlier this year and stuck to its guns on Wednesday.
Group member Ryan Sabet said current restrictions were having the intended effect with a reduction in alcohol-related harm since 2014.
"[The report] puts a dollar figure on fear, which is ridiculous," he said.
"They can keep calling for 2am closures but the fact is the government on all sides has confirmed there will not be any changes."
Mr Sabet would not comment on the extent of alcohol-related crime in Canberra: "In every industry there are risks associated and every industry manages those risks through its processes."
The figures in Drug and Alcohol Intoxication and Subsequent Harm in night-time Entertainment Districts saw the Australian Federal Police Association again throw its support behind lockout laws in the ACT.
"The Deakin report showed 46 per cent of short-term reactive policing costs and 43 per cent of alcohol-related offences occurring between 3am and 6am," president Angela Smith said.
"Curbing the availability of alcohol through 3am lockout laws is an initiative the AFPA has repeatedly asked the government to introduce.
"ACT Police are fed up with having to attend alcohol-fuelled assaults and road trauma, most of which are avoidable if decisive policies, including lockout laws, were in place."
Attorney-General Gordon Ramsay said on Tuesday the government would consider the report and its proposals.
"It is likely that there will be a range of community and stakeholder views on the issues raised in the report, and the government intends on continuing our consultation with all stakeholders on maintaining a vibrant and safe nightlife in Canberra," he said.
