In 2009, Andrew and Clare Kavunenko bought a vacant 4.86-hectare block in Krawarree, south of Braidwood, for just $117,000 with plans to use their "creative forces" to create a different lifestyle.

What started out as paddock with just three trees and a creek has been transformed into rustic accommodation known as Deau Tin Huts at the doorstep of the Deau National Park.
But now the retired couple, who also live on the site, have put their "labor of love" on the market in the hope of downsizing.
"It's a lot of work at our age," Mrs Kavunenko, 62, said. "It needs someone with a different energy to take it on."
The Kavunenkos built the property on 6 Dempseys Road from scratch, planting more than 1000 trees, and made it as self-sufficient as possible. It took two years to complete and has been operating since mid-2012.
"We’ve got rainwater tanks on site and an on-site septic," Mr Kavunenko said.
"We’ve also got quite a large vegetable garden and berries and things."
Krawarree, near Braidwood and about an hour and a half from Canberra, has a population of just 45.
The property has six buildings - the main homestead, three huts, a shed and a workshop, with an open paddock and a creek. It also has two sheep.
The huts can accommodate up to 14 people combined. Each hut has its own rainwater tank.
The pair designed the huts to reflect with traditional building practices and materials.
"We have done a lot of camping in our previous life and we were getting to a point - because we’re in our early 60s - where camping it’s great but you’re doing everything low down and we thought what would be really nice is have an accommodation place where people can feel that they’re close to the earth," Mrs Kavunenko said.
"What we thought was, we need a comfortable bed, good music, a hot shower and wood fire".
They bought furniture from second hand and recycled shops with the strict rule of no plastic. The lights in the smaller huts are government issue 1930 Canberra public housing lights.
The pair hopes the new buyers would maintain and add more to the property.
"Once it’s sold, of course people can do what that like, but it would be great if someone, maybe our age or younger that has different ideas for value adding to the site," Mrs Kavunenko said.
"More could be done with the property and it would be really nice to see it continue as it is and more."
The property is on the market for $1.46 million.
