Land sale: 13 blocks of land in new suburb, Taylor released

Last week, the government released the land in Taylor for sale by auction. To date, 388 blocks have been sold.

Originally farming land, the 315-hectare suburb will have a mix of single and multi-unit lots.

A Suburban Land Agency spokesman said the 13 blocks were some of the best in the area.

"They front green open space in the form of either a park or a landscaped pond, providing a beautiful backdrop to new homes," he said.

The smallest is block 3 section 8 with 404 square metres. Block 14 section 14 is the biggest at 619 sqaure metres.

Taylor is about four kilometres north-west of the Gungahlin Town Centre and 16 kilometres to the north of Civic.

All blocks, except one, are RZ3 zoned which allows for low rise and predominantly medium density houses. Block 17 section 17 is RZ1 zoned which allows for single dwellings.

The spokesman said about 6000 people were estimated to live in about 2500 dwellings in the suburb.

"Taylor has been designed to support the lifestyle of a broad cross-section of Canberrans, with close proximity to the city, schools, essential services and outdoor spaces," the spokesman said.

"As a result, blocks have been sold to a diverse range of future residents, including first home-buyers, retirees, new families, builders and people who are new to Australia."

He said the soon-to-be-named North Gungahlin Primary School, district playing fields and open spaces "create a community feel throughout the new suburb."

The school will be open to students for the 2019 school year.

Building in Taylor has begun and the first residents are expected to move in by the end of 2018.
