Lark Hill Winery's Chris Carpenter has been announced as one of 12 finalists in the 2017 Young Gun of Wine Awards.

Carpenter is the only finalist from NSW and the ACT in the awards, which showcase and celebrate Australia's emerging winemakers.
"It's absolutely thrilling to be one of the top 12," Carpenter said.
"Our winery is definitely very small; we crush around 60 tonnes of fruit each year, and the average Australian winery crush is 670 tonnes. Beyond that, Lark Hill is in a smaller niche again - as we're certified organic and biodynamic.
"So to see a winery that is so small, and so particular in our market go so far is really, really rewarding; and exciting."
The overall winners will be announced at the Young Gun of Wine Awards ceremony on June 20.
The competition includes a People's Choice Awards, which is voted for at two public events where the 12 finalists showcase two of their wines. The event is on in Sydney on May 24, and in Melbourne on June 19.
The Sydney event is on at the Prince Wine Store Sydney in Zetland. Tickets are $79.37 which includes a Riedel glass, wine tasting and food, available from Eventbrite.
