Light rail, hefty rates

The ACT government and light rail proponents seem completely unconcerned about the likely cost of the tram project, or whether it represents the best value public transport option for Canberra. So they probably won't care that the cost of the project is likely to blow out due to the National Capital Authority's refusal (Russell tram line without overheads", September 11, p1) to permit overhead power lines for the proposed Russell extension.
